CONGRATS GRACE!!

HUGE CONGRATS to Grace for her outstanding dissertation defense and receiving her PhD degree this past summer! We’re sad to see her leave the MCBL, but excited as she moves onto the next steps in her career. She is currently working as a postdoctoral scholar at the Willett Regenerative Lab on the UO Knight Campus!

Welcoming our new grad students!

We’re excited to welcome Rishi and Dami to the MCBL!

Rishi and Dami are starting their first year as graduate students at UO, both interested in studying muscle contractile functions. Rishi earned his bachelor’s degree in Cellular and Organismal Physiology at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and Dami earned her master’s degrees in Human Physiology at the University of Lagos. We’re excited to have them join our lab! Congrats!

Summer in Eugene

It’s been a productive and fun summer in the MCBL!

Rolling lab meetings are the best kind of lab meetings
Everyone loves biopsy day!
Grace is a natural at the delicate task of fiber dissection.

Congratulations Grads!!!

Last week, we were happy to celebrate commencement for our 2019 graduates! The MCBL had 4 students walk, Paige Morris, Jessica Meechan, Riley Smart and Austin Ricci. We’re sad to see them move on to greener pastures, but overjoyed to have Austin staying with us as he pursues his Ph.D.

End of Year Gathering!

The lab recently celebrated the end of a great school year with a lunch at Rennie’s Landing. We are looking forward to another great year and to the start of our summer projects!

Northwest American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-NW) Annual Meeting 2019

Over this past weekend, we attended our first ever conference in Bend, Oregon as a lab group! Our abstract was selected for the President’s Cup competition and Grace delivered an outstanding thematic presentation explaining our novel approach to distinguish myosin heavy chain isoform during single muscle fiber dissection in humans. Great job, Grace!

The gang’s all here!

Snapped a recent picture of our complete lab group (minus Dr. Callahan) at one of our most recent lab meetings! We discussed the procedures and events that are currently happening in the lab as well as some housekeeping items. More updates to come!
